Trivia: This film was based on Sharat Chandra Chatterjee's famous Bengali novel 'Devadas'. There were around a dozen movies based on this novel, but this 1953 movie is the biggest hit and highly appreciated in all those movies.
After demise of Subbaraman, the background score done by Viswanathan and Rammurthy.
Initially Shavukaru Janaki selected for the role of Parvathi, later Savitri replaced her, and got stardom.
