Swargaseema (1945)

Synopsis: Murthy (Nagaiah) is a publisher, married happily to Kalyani (Jayamma) and the proud father of their children. He watches a street play in his father-in-law's village, and notices the beautiful Subbalaxmi (Bhanumathi) in that troupe. He advises Subbalaxmi's father to take her to Madras where she would have the potential to become a big theatre artiste. He even refers them to a theatre company. The father-daughter duo travel to Madras, and are not left disappointed-Subbalaxmi is offered the lead role and changes her name to Sujatha. Murthy falls for Sujatha's charms and neglects his family. Kalyani fends for her children by taking up small tailoring works and leading a hard life. Slowly but surely, Murthy realizes his flaw and returns to his family. Bhakta Potana (1942)

Synopsis: This religious drama about the life of saint poet Bammera Potananmatya (also called Bhakta Pontana), who was a farmer until the god Rama came down from the heavens and told him to translate the holy text Bhagvata Gita from Sanskrit into Telugu. Soon after completing his life's work, Potananmatya is told to dedicate his work to his king. When he balks at the sovereign's inveigling attempts to claim credit for the work, the king sends out the troops. Hanuman -- the trickster monkey god -- saves Potananmatya and his family from the royal onslaught. As the troops mobilize to destroy the author's house, the king's palace gets magically trashed instead. Sumangali (1940)

Synopsis: A triangular love story, it strongly condemns child marriages and supports widow marriages. The three central characters are Satyam (AS Giri), a progressive young man, his classmate Saraswathi (Kumari), the city bred with whom he falls in love, his cousin in the village the compassionate Parvathi (Malathi) whose world revolves around him. Saraswathi's father (Lingamurthy) had migrated to the city when she was a child. He keeps it a secret from her that she was married when she was six and soon became a widow. He reveals this to Panthulu (Nagaiah) when he broaches the topic of her marriage with Satyam. It was only after her father's death that Saraswathi who leaves to her native place, Kapileswarapuram with her aunt (Rajarathnam) that she learns about her past. Synopsis: Raghu (Nagaiah), an unemployed graduate, insists on marrying a village girl Janaki (Kanchanamala) despite the opposition of his scheming mother who wants a dowry. Raghu's unemployment problems continue despite his migration towards city, leaving his wife in the clutches of her mother-in-law. When Raghu wins a lottery for Rs 5 lakhs and returns home, he finds his wife and infant son have left. Although his mother insists he marry again, Raghu goes to the city and dedicates himself to social work, including building factories in order to create employment opportunities. In this his rich female college friend, provoking gossip around their relationship, assists him. Raghu's wife, now a poor flower seller, sees her husband with his new friend and believes he has married. Eventually the misunderstanding is revolved.
